General Information
The Spiritual Care Collaborative (SCC) is poised to usher in a new era for the field of spiritual care in Canada and the United States. Drawing on our agreements to uphold common standards and to strengthen our influence with healthcare and the work of faith traditions, the SCC is hosting a mega-conference that will set the pace for our working relationship with each other as spiritual care professionals and our relationships with care providers from sister disciplines. The Spiritual Care Summit ’09, to be held on February 1-4, 2009 in Orlando, Florida, will lead boldly with universal themes that draw attention to the importance of spirituality, faith and religion in all aspects of care from prevention to crisis.

The theme of Summit ’09 is Health and Hope: The Hard Reality of Living Intentionally in a Village of Care. Attendees will engage in progressive conversation, eliciting new directions of competency and challenge through substantive pre-conferences, plenary addresses, workshops and inspirational gatherings. Acknowledging the complex web of all those involved in the village of care in various setting, Summit ’09 will call us to:

  • Define & transform how we care for others from a holistic perspective
  • Build interdisciplinary relationships that nurture and disturb, support and educate
  • Engage & experience authentic collaboration, celebrating that which unifies and honoring that which separates
Six pastoral care, counseling and education associations, acting together as a common host, are leading the way toward the development of best spiritual care practices that are just, faithful and professionally rigorous. As we continue to define our field, we invite fellow team members to join our efforts to ensure that the spiritual needs of all who are in need of care are fully met.

We want others to know who we are and what we represent. This will be the biggest event in the history of spiritual care professions on this continent. Make your plans now to attend. Invite and bring your colleagues: nurses, physicians, psychologists, social workers and health therapists.

See you at the Summit!
